Encounter 09

27/03/09

Each year the Churches of Preston come together for a youth event called Encounter. Encounter 09 was, once again, set in the Guild Hall in Preston, and Rock-Tech were delighted to partner with them for the 2nd year running. We were asked to provide Sound, Lighting and Video for an audience of over 1,500.

An all Hill FoH system comprising of two M8 line arrays with ground stacked M7 Subs was mixed by Phil Adlam and David Burton from a Hill Concept desk. Jon Atkin and Jon Ranson looked after stage sound with a number of M1 Stage Wedges, which were controlled by an Allan & Heath GL2800.

Ed White designed and operated Lighting using a Avolites Pearl Expert. Ed created a very flexible lighting rig by using JT PixelLines, Martin Mac 250 and 300s, and all the in-house generic fixtures.

Live video, from 3 camera positions, and visuals were mixed by Ben Suffolk, and projected onto two rear projection 10' by 7.5' screens using Rock-Techs brand new 5000 lumen projectors. Craig Cursiter set up the three camera positions using Sony DSR 250's and operated the stage cam during the event.

Encounter seeks to bring young people from churches around Preston to worship and praise God, gain encouragement, build unity, and help young people to get passionate about God. The core value of the event is to serve local churches in helping to release the potential of their young people, whether taking part or attending the event. We believe that encountering God through praise and worship can radically change a young person's life, church and community.
